The Acne Research Project

In search of a true cure for acne

A Real Acne Cure

Our mission is to help find a cure for acne. Not a cream to fix it or cover it up, but a true cure based on discovering the underlying biological causes, so that it can be treated at its source, not at the surface.

Research

We are conducting a public (that’s you) participation trial, to test the effectiveness of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) as a treatment for spots.

By taking part in this research not only might you discover a treatment for your acne, but you’ll also be helping to create evidence to justify further scientific studies and research into how and why vitamin B5 is effective and how it links to the underlying cause of acne.

A Treatment That Works

If you suffer from acne, you’ve probably tried countless creams and lotions in vain attempts to treat it. But you’ll probably also have noticed that your spots start under the skin, not on top of it. Acne is not caused by a lack of special cream. Your friend who has great skin has never used any of those creams, nor have they caught acne by touching you. That’s because the problem isn’t at the surface, it’s deeper down.

Vitamin B5 is a common vitamin, which is used by your body to make CoEnzyme A, which is used to break down sebum in the oil glands in your skin. For many of us who have tried it, it’s the closest thing we’ve seen to a miracle cure.

The Unpromoted Product

Despite many people having found it to be incredibly effective at treating their acne, vitamin B5 is relatively unknown as a treatment. Doctors often don’t know about it, largely because there have been very few clinical trials done on it. And the main reason for the lack of trials is that there isn’t a great deal of money to be made from it. Drug companies can’t patent a vitamin which already exists, so quite understandably they have no motivation to conduct any research into it. These companies have got a financial motivation to develop, prove and promote their own proprietary treatments such as Roaccutane. So vitamin B5 remains largely unheard of.

Our Vision

We created this site to raise awareness of this simple acne treatment. But we want to do much more than that. We want to get people (like you!) to document their experience of trying this treatment, so that we can:

  1. Create a body of evidence to justify further scientific trials.
  2. Raise awareness of this treatment in the medical community.
  3. Ultimately develop a better understanding of the real underlying causes of acne.

Our dream is that one day, even vitamin B5 will be unnecessary for treating acne.
